Cyber bullying is the use of electronic communications devices, particularly mobile phones and the Internet, to deliberately harass, intimidate or humiliate another individual.
Cyber bullying can consist of threats, harassment, embarrassment, humiliation, defamation or impersonation.
Cyber bullying can take the form of general insults, or prejudice-based bullying, such as…homophobic, sexist, racist or other forms of discrimination.
51% of incidents originate in emails, 38% originate in chat rooms, 36% on social networking sites, and 30% by mobile phones.
Over 40% of all teenagers with Internet access have reported being bullied online during the past year. Only 10% of those who were bullied told their parents about the incident.
